Last updated:

1. Local-first architecture

PrismTab is entirely local. We do not run telemetry, track your browsing history, or transmit personally identifiable information to our servers. Your dashboard and its contents belong exclusively to you.

2. Data storage

All user configurations — including notes, checklists, weather locations, timers, layouts, and custom wallpapers — are saved directly into your browser's native IndexedDB and chrome.storage APIs. We cannot see, access, or sell your data.

3. External requests

PrismTab only makes network requests when absolutely necessary for the widgets you use to function:

  • Open-Meteo: We query this service to retrieve weather forecasts based on the city name you input. No device GPS coordinates are ever tracked or sent.
  • Favicon.im: We use this open-source service to resolve domain names for your bookmarks to display their corresponding icons.
  • RSS Feeds: The extension fetches XML data directly from the URLs you explicitly provide to display news headlines.

4. Browser permissions

PrismTab operates with minimal privileges. The "Bookmarks" permission is completely optional and strictly turned off by default. It is only requested if you manually choose to enable two-way sync within the extension's settings.

5. Full control

You own your data. You can open the settings pane at any time to export a full JSON backup of your dashboard, or permanently reset the extension to erase the local database.
